Vietnam’s Best New Course
Opened in October 2014, it wasn’t long before the the Bluffs Ho Tram Strip stole the attention of golfers. The course is among several facets of the first stage of development of The Grand Ho Tram Strip, Vietnam’s first integrated casino and golf resort.
Just one year after opening, the Bluffs Ho Tram Strip received “The World’s Best New Golf Course” award at the prestigious World Golf Awards 2015 Ceremony. The course, which is located 80 kilometers southeast of Ho Chi Minh City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on the southern Vietnamese coastline, also scooped up “Best Golf Course in Vietnam” and “Best Golf Hotel in Vietnam”. The awards affirmed the Bluff’s position as one of golf’s most exciting new destinations.
Designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman, the Bluffs Ho Tram Strip is a links-style championship par-71 golf course which comprises of a 2,300 square meter clubhouse including dining, banquet facilities, pro shop and PGA Golf Instruction facility. Built on coastal sand dune topography, the Bluffs offers beautiful panoramic views of Ho Tram Beach and a unique atmosphere, as well as a variety of challenges for every level of golfer.
The golf course is laid out over various elevations from just five meters above sea level to 50 meters, with the highest point being found on the 15th green. Throughout the course, especially on the signature 4th hole, players can enjoy the spectacular views of the course itself, along with the unique landscape and wildlife, the expansive Vietnamese coastline, and the Grand Ho Tram Strip.
With the ground being mostly sand, there is limited vegetation and the holes are instead routed among the towering seaside sand dunes. The course requires golfers to be careful in choosing their clubs for each shot; an errant shot could easily end up out-of-bounds. At certain times through the year, there are high sea winds which create an extreme challenge for even the best golfers.
