Son of Indonesian Golf Legend Hosts Pro-Am
What does it take to host a golf tournament? Benny Kasiadi decided his management company would find out first hand.
Starting from a spontaneous idea, Benita Yuniarto Kasiadi, one of Indonesia’s best players, prepared a golf tournament in just two months. The BK Management 1st Tournament took place on March 6th at LotusLakes Golf Club, Karawang. Benita, who is also known as Benny Kasiadi, managed to bring 20 Indonesian professionals and 60 amateurs to take part in the pro-am tournament.
"We want our amateurs to get to know professionals from our own country. In addition, we also want to change the paradigm that playing with professionals always has to be serious. They can also learn a lot from our professionals regarding the techniques of swing, course management, and so on," said Benny, who is the son of Indonesian golf legend Kasiadi, the 1989 Indonesian Open champion.
Before the afternoon tournament got going, participants were given the opportunity to learn about the 2019 New Rules of Golf. A socialization session for the new regulations was carried out for two hours before teeing off and it received a positive response from the participants who had plenty of questions relating to the new rule changes implemented this year.
“This [socialization of regulations] has been scheduled. We want them to understand the rules of golf as well, so not just playing,” said Rahmawati Sayuti, Manager of BK Management.
BK Management plans to host the pro-am tournament for a second time. “Not only that, this pro-am tournament is expected to invite the interest of sponsors to hold professional tournaments which will certainly have an impact on the golf development in Indonesia,” said Benny.
