The TAWGC Experience
For the sixth time, Indonesia welcomed the world’s largest amateur golf competition hosted by Turkish Airlines. The winner of the event will have the chance to meet and play with some of the world’s best golfers.
Turkish Airlines, a global leader in civil aviation, has become synonymous with their self-entitled golf tournament, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup (TAWGC). Attended by more than 8,000 invited guests competing in more than 100 tournaments around the world, the event, like the company, provides many other innovative and distinguished services, to deliver its customers unparalleled experiences. This is the commitment of Turkish Airlines to the aspirational vision of sporting competition and trust in its ability to unite people from different nations.
In Indonesia, the sixth edition of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup was held at Royale Jakarta Golf Club, Jakarta, on August 24, 2018. The event was supported by the local business community and H.E. Dr. Mehmet Kadri Sander Gurbuz, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Indonesia along with other Ambassadors who came to take part at Royale Jakarta Golf Club.
With this year’s tournament being backed by The Financial Times, National, Titanic Hotels, and clothing partner Ruck & Maul, the winners of the qualifiers progress to the Grand Finals in Antalya in November, where they have the chance to secure a place in the Turkish Airlines Open pro-am. The winners will be flown to the event business class by Turkish Airlines and stay at the five-star Titanic Golf Deluxe Hotel.
The lucky winner of the Jakarta event was Farisyi who finished with a total of 44 points. He also took home the title of the lowest gross score (72) which beat runner-up Tedjodiningrat Broto Asmoro and Amrie Noor who came in third.
“We would like to thank all of our guests who made the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup here in Jakarta a huge success,” said Fatih Guldas, General Manager for Turkish Airlines in Jakarta. “Once again, it was a fantastic tournament in the TAWGC series and congratulations to our winner, Mr. Farisyi. We wish Him the best of luck in Antalya.”
For Farisyi, this is his second attempt at the TAWGC. "I attended TAWGC last year at Jagorawi, and won as Best Gross Overall," said Farisyi. However, he did not proceed to Turkey because it is the best score which qualifies the player to go on to the Grand Final.
Turkish Airlines flies to 301 cities in 121 countries around the world and was awarded ‘World’s Best Business Class Catering Service’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Lounge’, and ‘World’s Best Busines Class Lounge Dining’ at the Skytrax World Airlines Awards in 2017.
