Combiphar in partnership with Asian Development Tour present the 2nd Edition of The Players Championship in Indonesia.
Jakarta, 20 September 2017: Combiphar, Indonesia’s leading consumer healthcare company, will title sponsor the second edition of The Players Championship on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) in Indonesia. The 1st edition won by Thailand’s Itthipat Buranatanyarat in Singapore last January.
The Combiphar Players Championship which will be played at the New Kuta Golf Club, Bali, Indonesia, from October 11 to 14 offers a prize purse of US$100,000. A Pro-Am golf tournament for the Indonesia golf amateur players will mark the opening of this prestigious event. This initiative is part of Combiphar’s commitment in supporting golf sport development in Indonesia.
Tournament winners on the ADT and the Professional Golf Tour of Indonesia (PGTI) in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons are set to feature in this event, which will be the 13th leg on the schedule and the Tour’s second stop in Indonesia this season.
Leading players from Indonesia will get another opportunity to compete against a cosmopolitan field on the ADT and showcase their talent on an international level through the staging of the Combiphar Players Championship.
Michael Wanandi, CEO of Combiphar, said: “We are delighted to present Combiphar Players Championship as our support the development of Indonesia golf sport. We believe that Indonesia has many talented leading players and they are qualified to compete in the international event. We are thrilled to partner with the ADT again after staging a successful event last year”
“We believe this event will offer a strong platform for aspiring professionals to excel in the game, especially with the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points on offer. We hope the leading players from Indonesia will take advantage of this opportunity to continue pushing the growth of golf in the country and have a chance to participate in Olympic 2020,” added Michael Wanandi.
Asian Tour Chief Operating Officer Cho Minn Thant expressed his appreciation to Combiphar for their strong support and commitment. “On behalf of our talented players, we are pleased to see Combiphar Players Championship on the ADT Schedule.
“Being a championship for the players, it is important that the event is a main-stay on the schedule. I would like to thank Combiphar for coming onboard this year and their continued support and commitment to the ADT.
“The ADT has grown from strength to strength over the years and it has been a good stepping stone for aspiring golfers to play their way onto the Asian Tour. George Gandranata became the first Indonesia to win on the ADT last March. More recently, Danny Masrin was awarded with an invitation to participate in an Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour event in 2018 through his finish as the highest placed Indonesian in the most recent ADT event in Indonesia last month. We hope to see more young and exciting talents from Indonesia coming up,” added Cho.
All ADT events offer Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. The winner will receive six OWGR points while the top six players and ties will also earn points based on a sliding scale.
The top-five finishers on the final Order of Merit will secure their Asian Tour cards for 2018.
